The Traditions of the Craft
There are many traditions in the Craft. I personally, practice the Georgian tradition.
As I am not an expert on these other traditions, I shall only give their names and a very brief description of each to the
best of my knowledge.
*Clicking on the links below will bring you to the Witchvox site where they have a detailed
account of most traditions.*
Gardnerian
The Gardnerian Tradition was brought about in the 1950's by Gerald Gardner. It is an initiatory
tradition that is only passed via lineage. Gardnerians work skyclad.
Seax-Wica
This tradition was started by Raymond Buckland in 1973 after many years
of his work as a Gardnerian. Members may take coven or self initiation. Skyclad is not mandatory.
Faery
The Faery Tradition was brought to the United States by Victor Anderson in the 1960's. Faery
tradition usually works robed and is eclectic in nature.
Alexandrian
The Alexandrian Tradition was started by Alex and Maxine Sanders in the 1960's. It is said
to be an offshoot of the Gardnerian tradition and it's teachings are very similar to the Gards.
